Meet Louisa!

Louisa is a 5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer looking for her forever home after the heartbreaking loss of her owner. She came to us when her owner sadly passed away, and while her story started with loss, it’s quickly become one filled with love, healing, and hope.

​

Louisa adores Busy Bones, cozy blankets, and sharing plenty of sweet kisses. She’s wonderful with other dogs and older children, making her an easy fit for a family or home with furry siblings. She does best in a home without cats, as she’s not a fan of our feline friends. You might notice that sometimes her eyes cross a little. It doesn't bother her at all, and the vet has checked her out. It's just a quirky Louisa thing.

In her previous life, Louisa lived at the end of a chain, coming inside only to sleep. In the morning, she went right back out. When she came to us, the chain was embedded in her neck. Because of this experience, she is what we call a bolter. If she has a chance, she'll take off. We are requiring a physical fence to keep her contained for her safety -- she's never going to honor an invisible fence. It's really not her fault!

Inside, this gentle girl is your classic Velcro GSP—she’ll happily follow you from room to room, always by your side or in your lap. She is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and eager to bond with her people. Louisa never meets a stranger, and everyone who crosses her path falls a little in love—including her foster family, who can’t say enough about how special she is.
